Dr. ELPINIKI I. PAPAGEORGIOU is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Applied Sciences (TEI) of Thessaly, Larisa, Hellas. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Patras (Sept. 2004). She specializes in developing and applying soft computing methods and algorithms to decision support problems for prediction, strategic decisions, scenario analysis and data mining, solving important existing and/or emerging problems, arising in engineering, business, medicine, agriculture and environment. Her main research specialization is the development of novel algorithms and methods for intelligent decision support systems and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. She has been working for over 16 years as principal investigator and senior researcher in several research projects related with the development of novel computational intelligence methodologies for decision support systems, intelligent algorithms and fuzzy cognitive tools for prediction and decision making, data mining, big data analysis (participation as Researcher/Technical Manager in 13 EU and 9 national projects, ie. HORIZON2020-Ζ-Fact0r, HORIZON2020-PROCETS, HORIZON2020-OACTIVE, INCONET-CG2, FP7-SMS-2013, FP7-ICT-2013-11 ISS-EWATUS, FP7-ICT-2011 USEFIL, FP7-ICT-2007-1 DEBUGIT, FP6-SESAME, COST Action 15222 as well as in many national research projects such as PYTHAGORS ΙΙ, METAKNOWLEDGE, EXCELLENCE ΙΙ, ARCHIMEDES ΙΙΙ). Today, she is PI in four national research projects at Center of Technology Research Stereas Elladas concerning the development of intelligent algorithms for data analysis and DSS in energy and water. Also, her strong relationship with external funding bodies and especially EU and national funding environments, gave her an experience in managing research teams in different application domain projects. She has more than 195 publications in journals, conference papers and book chapters (75 of them are in journals with high Impact Factors) and has 2447 citations from independent researchers (h-index=28 in scopus). Dr. Elpiniki Papageorgiou is the Editor of the Springer book “Fuzzy Cognitive Maps for Applied Sciences and Engineering - from fundamentals to extensions and learning algorithms”, Intelligent Systems Reference Library 54, Springer 2014. Dr. Elpiniki Papageorgiou was the main organizer of the previously accomplished Special Sessions on Fuzzy Cognitive maps entitled as “Methods and Applications of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps” in previous FUZZ-IEEE conferences at 2011, 2012, 2013, WCCI2014 (IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, FUZZ-IEEE 2014), FUZZ-IEEE2015, WCCI2016 and FUZZ-IEEE2017, and has chaired five of them; moreover she organized for first time worldwide the First Summer School for Fuzzy Cognitive Maps in July 2016 at Volos, Greece. She is also a reviewer in many international journals, mainly IEEE and Elsevier. She is IEEE Senior Member and member in IEEE CIS. Her research interests include intelligent systems, fuzzy cognitive maps, soft computing methods, decision support systems, cognitive systems, data mining and machine learning. |
