John (Ioannis) Kechagias graduated from the University of Patras in 1995 with a diploma in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering.
He received a PhD diploma from the same University (2001) for research in laser laminated object manufacturing (LOM) process optimization and modelling.
Between 1993 and 2001, he worked on more than ten European research projects at the University of Patras

Between 2004 and 2019, he worked at TEI Thessaly (Larissa City) in the Mechanical Engineering Department and was Director of the CNC Machine Tools Laboratory

Between 2009 and 2012, he parallel worked at the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Thessaly (Volos City).
After 2019, he moved to Karditsa City to a new department, Forestry Wood Science and Design (FWSD), School of Science, at the University of Thessaly. He is also the Director of the Design and Manufacturing Laboratory (DeMan)

He is the Author of more than 160 scientific research papers (journal, book chapters, conferences).
Since Mai 2021, he has been the Editor in Chief of the IJEDPO Journal

He was also the recipient of SME Journal of Manufacturing Processes Outstanding Reviewers Award (2022).
